NAXYS AT WORK AGAINST COVID-19. For several months, naXys researchers have been modelling the expansion of the coronavirus in Belgium. Based on Sciensano statistical data, they elaborate scenarii for the evolution of the pandemic. The models project the situations we might have to undergo in Belgium according to the decisions made by the Authorities. These works clearly show that mathematical modeling is extremely important in everyday life. More information.
CONGRATULATIONS to our naXys member Anne-Sophie Libert for her nomination as “Narc Fellow”. Anne-Sophie and her team investigate the formation, evolution and habitability of extrasolar systems, in order to understand the unexpected diversity of their orbital parameters, some of them being remarkably different from that of the Solar system. Their research mainly focuses on the dynamical aspects (in particular the resonances) that play a crucial role in the understanding of extrasolar systems architecture, with an interdisciplinary approach, combining analytical methods and numerical methods.
THE RELOCATION OF THE MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT WAS SUCCESSFUL.
